Did you know your email marketing and social media strategy can work together? Your overall marketing strategy can work holistically together! I love combining marketing strategies because it’s less work for me, and it creates a seamless experience for my potential clients. Today, let’s talk about tying your email marketing strategy with your social lead gen strategy. While these marketing channels serve different purposes, they can work together well.
Optimize Your Social Media Profiles
Your social media profiles should be well-optimized with clear and consistent branding. A fully complete and engaging social media profile will catch the attention of your target audience. Here’s a quick list of what you need in your profile:
- Profile picture (either of you or your business logo)
- Short description of who you are, who you serve, and what you offer
- Link to your website or a dedicated landing page for lead generation
This will vary depending on the social network, but these things should definitely be completed in your profile. The point of completing your profile as best you can is to show you’re a legitimate business. There are tons of fake profiles out there, and you definitely don’t want to be perceived as one!
Promote Email Sign-ups on Social Media
Use your social media channels to promote email sign-ups. Create compelling call-to-action (CTA) posts that encourage users to subscribe to your email list. You don’t have to be that blunt either. You could promote a freebie or low-ticket offer, and when they sign up for it, they are added to your email list.
Another way to promote email subscriptions is to use lead generation forms on platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn. These easily convert people from your ads directly from their feeds. It doesn’t redirect them to your website and then asks them to complete a form. The form they complete on Facebook or LinkedIn captures their email and adds them to your list automatically. The only downside is this is a paid feature.
I love cross-promoting content and repurposing content from email to social. However, you have to be careful about it. Sharing your email content on your social media platforms is great, but you still want there to be an incentive to be on your email list. Otherwise, people would just go to your social media if they’re getting the exact same thing in your emails. Every once in a while, you could share an entire newsletter on social media to really show your audience what it’s like to receive emails from you. Just don’t get in the habit of it!
On social, you could tease your newsletter, blog posts, lead magnets, or exclusive offers. This can pique the interest of your social followers and entice them to sign up for your email list. They don’t want to miss out on all the awesome content you provide!
You could also share new content with your email list first, then on social media. That way, your email subscribers still feel special that they got to know about your new offer or content first.
Plan and coordinate your email and social media campaigns. They should have the same goal, whatever that may be…
- Special Promotion
- New offer
- Product or service launch
If you’re running a special promotion in your email, announce it on social media at the same time to create a buzz. But don’t forget to make them sign up for your email list to be the first to know when the promotion is live!
Leverage Social Media Contests
Run contests or giveaways on social media with the condition that participants subscribe to your email list AND follow you on social. This can boost your email subscribers and social engagement at the same time! Better yet, collaborate on a contest with a fellow entrepreneur in a similar space as you. You can then be exposed to their audience and get new subscribers from them.
Stories have come a long way from when they were first introduced. You can now include links in your stories without needing a huge following! I highly recommend utilizing links in your stories to promote new blogs, freebies, podcast episodes, your email list, etc. It’s super easy for the user to click the link and consume the content you link to. Consistently post links that require a download (AKA an email sign-up), and your subscribers will skyrocket!
Engage With Your Target Audience
Don’t forget to engage with your target audience. An engaged and active audience on social media will result in more email subscribers. When you engage with the right people, they’re already drawn to what you offer. They’re more likely to accept the offers you promote on social media and be added to your email list.
Don’t forget to measure your ROI! Track the ROI of your integrated email and social media strategy. Measure the growth of your email list, social media engagement, and the impact on your business’s overall objectives. Then, adjust your campaigns and strategies accordingly. You’ll quickly realize what’s working and what isn’t.
Tying your email marketing and social lead gen strategy together makes your life a whole lot easier.
