How to Stay Consistent on Social Media

Are you struggling to stay consistent on social media? It’s challenging to stay on top of the demand that social media platforms require to be effective. Plus, trends, algorithms, and advice from experts are always changing. How do you know what to keep up with? The best thing you can do for yourself is to stay consistent. Whatever that means to you! If you can commit to five posts a week, great! If it’s only two, that’s fine, too. Just stay consistent. I know, it’s easier said than done. In this blog, I’ll explain four tips that will help you stay consistent on social media. Trust me. Try these out, and your business will thank you for it.

1. Create a Content Calendar

A content calendar is a great way to keep your social content organized. It allows you to see the big picture and easily rearrange posts before sending them. I create my monthly content calendar through our scheduling tool, Loomly. If you don’t have a scheduling tool then Google Sheets is a great option, too. I designate days to post, according to the number of days I decide to commit to, and make sure there aren’t any days missing. It’s a great way to see the overall picture.

2. Create a Content Strategy

Your content strategy depends on your industry, expertise, and clientele. You do need a content strategy, though. It’s not enough to simply be active on social media. You have to deliver content that your audience wants to see and interact with. The main thing to remember is to provide value first, and then you can ask for their business. A good rule of thumb is to have five value posts for every one sales post. Prove to your audience that you know your stuff and can be trusted to solve their problem. You can read more about how to create and fix your social media strategy in this blog.

3. Batch Content

I love batching content! I usually sit down and create a month’s worth of content for myself and my clients. By batching, I get everything done in a couple of hours, rather than doing one post a day. It keeps me focused on the task at hand and to think logically about the posts I’m creating.

I know many entrepreneurs feel frazzled trying to keep up with social media. I believe it’s because they try to come up with a post every single day. That’s exhausting! Then, there isn’t a strategy because posts are thrown together at the last minute. Batching content forces you to sit down and plan out content in a way that helps you achieve your goal of being on social media (whatever that may be). You won’t stress-post a random photo or video for the sake of posting.

Batching also allows you to be more productive throughout the day. You won’t pause your work to post on social media and potentially get distracted and end up scrolling. You’ll have a full month’s worth of content done in a day!

4. Use a Social Media Scheduler Tool

After you’re done batching content, schedule all your posts using a scheduling tool. Here are a few I recommend looking into:

  • Hootsuite
  • Later
  • Loomly
  • Sprout Social
  • HeyOrca
  • Planoly
  • Facebook Creator Studio

Essentially, they all do the same thing, which is schedule social posts to send on certain days and times. I encourage you to research each one because they have unique features, and one may better suit your needs than another.

Staying consistent on social media does require some effort on your part. It takes time, strategy, and organization for your posts to be effective, and resonate with your target audience. It will be worth it, though! There’s a reason so many businesses are on social media – it works!
